"Nice videos in SOLO or MULTI without the fuss, with good humor guaranteed!" " Here is the description of the Farming Savoyard chain, created in 2014 by Julien Orgeas, which has totaled more than 10M views at the time of writing. And yet, despite a decent hearing, the decision was made to draw the curtain. Explanation by the creator of the channel.
What was your motivation to start Youtube?
Farming Savoyard: It is in a way a challenge that I launched myself. I was watching Farming videos in 2014, and being passionate about this game I thought to myself why not make it myself and see if it could please. I had no idea at the beginning where this adventure would take me 5 years later and even less if it was going to work.
I think that when you attempt this adventure, you should especially not set a serious goal or stick to it. We are not in control of This thing. Many Youtubers who are starting out already see themselves at the top of the bill. Many will be disappointed upon arrival. Why: Because the luck factor is significant. No matter how much you produce the most beautiful and interesting content, if you don't have a stroke of luck you will be left in the middle of the crowd. Stroke for me, I had this stroke of luck 🙂
How did the start of the chain go? Has it started well? Did you have any doubts about the future?
Farming Savoyard: The channel started nicely (100, 500, 1000 subscribers) I never had in mind to race for subscribers. The levels were crossed one by one and then we ended almost 5 years later with 52.000 subscribers and over 10.000.000 views.
It took off during the series on market gardening (LE MARAICHER) on the “Map Vielle France By Arsenic Modding”. It is I, it seems to me, who first popularized this activity. I also subsequently made Mod presentations of Arsenic Modding (Videos which were very popular in their time).
Regarding the future having no specific goal I never doubted (Walk, walk, it was the same. Youtube was not my life, just a pleasure). It wouldn't have worked, I might have stopped a long time ago, who knows.
Can you tell us how many hours of work you spent per week on your channel when it was in full swing?
Farming Savoyard: At the top of the chain when I published almost 5/6 videos per week I think it easily took me 15/18 hours per week (Between 2,5 and 3 hours per video). After that, I didn't do any extraordinary edits or endless takes. Regarding the videos it was one shot, that's what gave this spontaneity.
What were your favorite videos to shoot?
Farming Savoyard: The best videos are undoubtedly those in Multi, but not in 4/5/6 people (Even if it was good) but those of our duo with the Patou. These are the videos that I had the most fun shooting. We knew each other by heart and had the same delusions. It looked like we were a brother or a father and son. It was really a huge pleasure to tour with him, I think it was the case for him too.
What was the impact of Patou on your channel?
Farming Savoyard: He brought me new life. With him I was able to do something different, more in the joke. It's obviously easier to mess around when you're not alone. I also think this is what appealed to our audience, what set us apart from the rest. Simply Gameplay, no fuss, just messing around with friends. We were a real duo, we didn't take people for idiots, we were real and the people who followed us understood that well.
Much of the community knows Farming Savoyard for its offbeat and humorous videos. Was all this planned at the start?
Farming Savoyard: Not at all. If you watch my first videos, they are not the same type or the same kind of videos. Time has made me find my style (it evolves over time this kind of thing) it looks a lot like the one I am elsewhere in life. It rained, so we hit the nail on the head (People only wanted that for that matter). We couldn't have gone back on the channel and done more serious videos.
This is also largely why I'm quitting today (In addition to the lack of motivation). I do not see myself remaking solo videos in "serious" mode. It would not please (I think) and it would be like most of the videos that are available on Youtube (do like the others, no thanks).
Have you seen a difference between the YouTube of now and the one you knew when you started?
Farming Savoyard: Yes the platform is getting younger I think. There are far too many “prepuberts” today who allow themselves anything and especially anything behind their screen. After that it's like that, we can't do anything about it, we have to do with it.
Many YouTubers have created teams that accompany them in their adventures. Did you ever think that a Savoyard team could have wreaked even more havoc?
Farming Savoyard: If I thought about it but I wasn't available enough (That was my problem). You should know that I shot my videos on weekdays from 13:15 p.m. to 13:45 p.m. Few people are available during this time slot (School, work, etc.). The rest of the time (weekend, evening) I am not available, I am married and the father of 2 young children, I devote myself to them.
In these conditions, it is difficult to unite around a "team". In short, it's a shame but that's how the adventure of the SAVOYARD is made like this.
PS: I wanted to thank all the CONOs (yes at the SAVOYARD, the subscribers are "CONO"), who followed me in this extraordinary human adventure. After the announcement of my judgment, I received countless messages of sympathy which really touched me and warmed my heart. The best reward; I believe; for a YouTuber; it is the “love” of its subscribers (well for me it was that). Ciao bye bye 😉
