Keen Games deployed Wake of the Water, its most ambitious update for enshroudedOriginally planned for October, the team had postponed the release to November 10, 2025 to ensure a level of quality that meets expectations, particularly those of its community, which now numbers more than 4 billion video gamers worldwide. since early access in early 2024.
This update marks a real turning point for the game, especially thanks to the addition of the highly anticipated dynamic water systembut also thanks to a complete overhaul of combat gameplay, a point often criticized since the launch.
A widely requested overhaul of the combat system
Keen Games has thoroughly overhauled the entire combat system. Interface, weapons, armor, buffs, items, spells, regeneration: virtually the entire core of the gameplay has been adjusted or rebuilt to make combat more readable, responsive, and tactical.
Notable additions include:
- General rebalancing of all offensive and defensive statistics,
- new skills and new spells,
- new types of weapons, including great two-handed swords,
- better integration of build customization mechanics,
- animations and timings have been reworked to make combat smoother.
Player feedback made this project a priority, and Keen Games indicates that it based a large part of these changes on suggestions from its community.
Water in voxels: the most anticipated feature
Wake of the Water finally adds what many considered the “missing link” in Enshrouded’s sandbox ecosystem: manipulable and fully dynamic water.
New water-related features include:
- swimming,
- fishing,
- plant irrigation,
- Land shaping influenced by the presence of water,
- underwater construction and physical effects related to depth,
- dangers associated with prolonged immersion.
The addition integrates directly into the gameplay of building, exploring and automating, and opens the door to new types of bases and biomes.
New creatures and a capybara… that can be tamed
The update introduces new aquatic and terrestrial species:
- various fish,
- crabs,
- Wetland Snapjaws,
- and especially… the capybara, which players can tame and install in their coastal base.
A purely cosmetic and cute addition? Yes. Useful? Not really.
But the community seems more than willing.
Objects, decoration and QoL
To accompany these major additions, Keen Games is also enriching:
- many consumables (food and buffs),
- new decorative objects,
- the possibility oflabel chests and panels,
- and various comfort improvements.
A set that aims to make the colonies more vibrant, more practical, and more visually coherent.
