Enshrouded’s fourth content update, Frozen Souls’ Reach, is finally live for all 3 million players! Developers Keen Games are proud to present their biggest update – in terms of content and scope – to date, including several highly anticipated features:
- Added dynamic weather,
- Pets and livestock,
- Village NPCs,
- Increased EXP and crafting levels,
- New weapons and clothes,
- Plus a host of other features, content and fixes!
Launching in Early Access in January 2024, with a full version 1.0 launch on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox planned for 2025, Keen Games continues to expand the world by adding deeper gameplay, richer visuals, and refined experiences to better immerse players in the world of Enshrouded.
The mountains are winning you over!
If players haven’t prepared yet, they should consider this their final warning, as winter has well and truly arrived in Embervale on the snowy peaks of Albaneve. They will be able to venture through thick layers of snow that are as uncomfortable as they are incredibly fun to manipulate. They will be able to experience the range of dynamic elements of this journey: the deep snow will slow them down considerably, the updrafts will help them glide further and higher, and not to mention the ice plains that are slippery, for better or for worse. The Albaneve Peaks is an icy mountain biome with new mobs, creatures, and materials. There will be multiple quests to complete, lore to discover, and of course, the sailing zones found there. This winter wonderland is full of surprises; players will want to make sure to have something warm on hand.
Furballs are coming to Enshrouded!
One of the most requested features that Keen games was pleased to add to the game is ready for adoption: pets and farm animals! Enjoy the company of feathered and furry creatures, two- and four-legged, who will stay to graze, laze around, and generally provide comfort and companionship. Of course, they can all be petted. Anything that isn’t aggressive can be tamed so they can be brought back to base—no need to ask their parents’ permission. In return, all they can ask for is a place to sleep and some tasty treats to make them feel right at home, or even start their own little family. Farm animals will drop resources periodically as an extra thank you for providing food and shelter.
An avalanche of features included
Speaking of friends and thanks to the work of several million Flameborn, the power of the Flame increased and many souls returned to Embervale, populating various areas with NPCs and helping players rebuild their world. These NPCs can also be invited into bases to help craft items and complete tasks!
Dynamic weather conditions are finally making their way into the game world. You will need to protect yourself from the freezing cold by crafting appropriate outdoor clothing that will help you acclimatize to the new altitudes. The weather can now impact players' adventures: expect sudden temperature changes, rain, and other elements.Survival skills will be increased, but so will level caps.
Players can now reach level 35 in the update Frozen Souls' Edge, including spells, skills and other benefits. Equipment tailored to different classes can be crafted, while new materials like snow will be available to build bases or monuments that will show the player's sense of accomplishment. One thing to note: this snow will not melt when used in cold biomes.
Although Keen games has already covered a large part of the 2024 roadmap, the platform Feature Upvote community-led workshop provides plenty of ideas to consider as the team prepares for the full launch of the version 1.0 et to next year's console editions. This year, when Early Access was launched, more than three million players have embarked on adventures across Embervale, enjoying three – and now four! – major content updates. enshrouded has maintained a very positive Steam rating from players, listening carefully to feedback to help shape the game's evolution over time.
