Lumberjack Simulator has been in Early Access for a little over a year and we have been following its development. This little independent game is progressing, while listening to its community, and aims to become the "best logging simulator on the market". Just that.
An update of nearly 200MB arrived in January. It brings, in addition to traditional bug fixes, a new challenge mode in order to script the game a bit and make it more fun, with progressive difficulty. The "sandbox" mode remains available.
Career mode details
The idea here is to participate in the life of local businesses. These are present on the map and are looking for different types of services. Of course, most of them will be sawmills buying logs or pulp mills buying wood chips, but there are also other missions, such as transport.
Companies are demanding on the products delivered. These requirements include the type of lumber or length of logs that will now need to be measured using a tape measure. Harvesters have an integrated measuring system.
An XP system is now in place. The more you work, the faster you will go to the higher levels, which will unlock more difficult and better paid missions. In a future update, the developer talks about better management of your business with possible relocation to expand.
This is also the course taken for 2021: improve the mechanics of the game. The main objective is to double the number of vehicles available in the game and to provide more and more missions. In addition to this, the developers want to improve modding capabilities to allow the integration of vehicles and maps, through the Steam Workshop. To be continued…
