The developers at BeamNG.drive have just released the game's 0.26 update which brings traffic improvements, graphics, car accessories, and a remaster of the iconic Ibishu Covet. Overview.
The Ibishu Covet is getting a full remaster, featuring a revamped 3D model, reworked textures, design improvements, structural tweaks and of course a slew of new content. With nearly 40 setups, the Covet is now available in both USDM and JDM versions, the latter offering right-hand drive, as well as unique trim levels and styling. The radical Covet MR Turbo models support the RWD drivetrain, with a mid-engine, which make for a thrilling, responsive machine whether on a race track, rally track…or the streets of the city.
The Covet is also the first BeamNG vehicle to fully support several new in-game features, including racing interior parts, realistic doors, hood and trunk, as well as an animated manual shifter and working odometer. .
Aside from the remastered Covet, there are also upcoming fixes and upgrades for several other vehicles. The BeamNG team added four new types of wheels, plus odometers, animated hand levers to all manual cars except the T-series, roof rack loads (including a roof box which can be configured for suitcases or backpacks).
On the graphics side, we note with this update 0.26 of BeamNG.drive the experimental support for Motion Blur, which should offer a new feeling of speed.
It's autumn, the developers are taking the opportunity to add PBR textures to the different foliage. The rendering is more realistic and less “flat”. The Garage environment gets an improved lighting system (did it need one?). The PBR is really in the spotlight and the transition of maps to this system is progressing. Thus, Italy and the West Coast now benefit from it. Earth, asphalt, and various road markings are more realistic in their reflection of light.
Finally, for the sake of performance when traffic is activated, it is now simplified models of vehicles that will populate the maps. Some, like Utah, Italy, and the West Coast, now display parked vehicles, also simplified. This simplification allows for fewer physics calculations to be performed, which greatly improves performance, without sacrificing quality.
Finally, other improvements on the physics of hydraulic systems and on the management of keyboards and gamepad also appear on the changelog that you can check here.
