Announced in preview during the inaugural evening of Gamescom 2023, the game will be derived from Snowrunner with which it will share the graphics and physics engine. It will have a parallel existence that will complement the Spintire, Mudrunner, and Snowrunner universe. So it's not a sequel.
New activities to replace transport?
In order to mark its difference with the other games, there will be no transport missions. However, the following activities have already been announced:
- Recon drone to plan its route and search for caches of special equipment
- Metal detection to unearth equipment caches
- Management of its base camp with recruitment of specialists, research infrastructures
Also note that it is confirmed that there will be tire pressure management to adapt your vehicle to the terrain in real time.
An expected release in 2024 on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC
The Steam page doesn't mention the co-op multiplayer mode but it looks like there was confirmation on the official snowrunner discord that the game will be well multiplayer and with cooperation.
Expeditions is one of 3 games Focus has signed with Saber that will arrive from 2024 onwards. THE investor report specifies that they will all be multiplayer and will benefit from additional content from launch.
