The nVidia RTX have been talking about it for 2 years now, and the new 30 series from the American manufacturer of graphics chipsets has revived the growing interest in the rendering of real-time raytracing in video games. Recently it's the game Watch Dogs Legion which illustrated itself with a series of ultra-realistic screenshots comparing the rendering with or without an RTX card (raytracing enabled or not).
It did not take less for us to see a good number of fakes blooming on different games. Highly photoshopped before / after images. Farming Simulator was of course entitled to these famous hijackings and, in the community, it made a lot of noise. So, FS 19, compatible with raytracing?
The answer is of course NOT. Even if Giants Software is a partner of nVidia, RTX cards do not benefit, for the moment, from any advantage on the visual quality of the rendering. The images that circulate also call for mods. And Giants to specify that during an official communication, they only use “maps, vehicles, and functionalities already integrated in the game”. No mods therefore. This is not the case for the 2 captures that are circulating for the game at the moment (unknown map, frontal Samson tank, building in mod, Horsch and Pôttinger consoles in the cabin…).
Be patient. Farming Simulator has had its share of visual improvements with each new release. It's a safe bet that the next episode will make a leap forward with the arrival of the PS5 and Xbox Serie X.
