Here we are, we know everything, or almost, about the cultivation of olives and vines on FS 22. If you haven't followed Farmcon. Here's a quick recap, from planting and harvesting to weeding and treatments.
Farming Simulator 22 will feature three new crops: grapes, olives and sorghum. If you've watched this year's FarmCon, you learned more about them in the presentation by Giants Software. If you missed it, you can watch it right now (the video is in the header of the article).
There are several reasons why the developers decided to add grapes, olives and sorghum in Farming Simulator 22. The most obvious: they bring new types of machines to the game and diversify the game experience in terms of of agriculture. They fit perfectly into use production chains. « And, for our brand new map located in a Mediterranean climate, they are appropriate ” Giants points out. On top of that, since you have to place the vines manually, they make great use of new “Build mode” (improved landscape mode).
New machines
The vines collide, so you will have to operate the machines with care. Otherwise, you risk damaging your new crops! As a result, the tools are very small. The new machines have a working width of approximately 1 to 1,5 meters. You will not be able to drive between the vines with a large tractor.
How does the planting and harvesting process work?
First you plant the vines. With the new construction mode (Build Mode) to discover in the presentation video, you place rows of vines on your fields. You then have to weed between your vines, between the rows to help the plants reach their full growth.
With special fertilizer machines, you spray the plants to improve the yield. As you do with other cultures. After harvesting with grape harvesters, you need to cut the leaves so that the grapes can regrow. This is required for grapes only and is not required for olives.
And then, towards the production line
As you now know, you don't have to stop at harvesting and selling. Grapes, olives, and even brand new sorghum, can be processed in a production facility. Grapes can be made into grape juice or raisins. You can then deliver them to other production plants like the grain factory or directly to a point of sale like the supermarket. The olives can be brought to the press for the production of oil.
So much to say!
We noted so much information while chatting with the developers that it would be best to get together live Saturday July 24 at 14 p.m. on our Youtube channel. And I promise, we'll tell you EVERYTHING.
