Square Enix recently announced the long-awaited arrival of Final Fantasy XVI on PC platforms, including Steam and the Epic Games Store, from September 17, 2024. This news will delight fans of the series who have been impatiently awaiting the possibility of discovering this chapter on their computer. To accompany this release, a free playable demo is already available, offering a first look at the game.
A free demo to dive into Clive's story
Players can now try Final Fantasy XVI thanks to a free demo available on Steam and the Epic Games Store. This demo offers the game's prologue, centered on the youth of Clive Rosfield, the main character. Users will have access to more than two hours of content, including a special “Eikonic Challenge” mode, which allows you to discover more epic battles and skills. Additionally, progress made in the demo can be transferred to the full game when it is released.
Varied editions to satisfy all players
Square Enix offers several options for purchasing Final Fantasy XVI on PC. Players can choose the Standard Edition, which includes the base game, or the Complete Edition, which also includes the “Echoes of the Fallen” and “The Rising Tide” DLCs. These expansions enrich the gaming experience with new stories, battles, and weapons. For those who prefer to purchase the DLC separately, an Expansion Pass will also be available.
Pre-order bonuses and exclusive items
Players who pre-order the game on Steam or the Epic Games Store will receive several exclusive items, including the Brave Blade weapon, the Cait Sith Charm accessory that boosts Gil's earnings, and the "Sixteen Bells" orchestral track. These bonuses will reinforce the gaming experience from the first hours of the adventure.
A dark and captivating universe
Final Fantasy XVI takes place in the world of Valisthea, a dark fantasy universe where peace is threatened by a mysterious corruption called the “Blight”. The Eikons, powerful summoned creatures, play a central role in the fate of the world. Clive Rosfield, the protagonist, is embarked on an epic quest marked by tragedy and revenge, as he seeks to confront Ifrit, a shadowy Eikon responsible for many misfortunes.
DLCs that extend the adventure
The two DLC chapters planned for Final Fantasy XVI promise to add depth to the story. “Echoes of the Fallen” introduces new narrative elements and challenges that take place before the final battle of the base game. The chapter “The Rising Tide” allows players to discover a new region and face off against Leviathan, the Eikon of water. This DLC also adds new end-game content with the Kairos Gate, a 20-level challenge for players looking for intense combat.
