First of all, what is ambilight?
Ambilight is a gadgets appeared in 2002, this technology is "very simple", it consists of a lighting system which is placed at the back of your television. The system analyzes the background colors on your screen and projects them to the back of your television. A large manufacturer of electronic equipment has already included this system in one of its ranges of televisions since 2004. It also manufactures this system in modular form (strip led, projector, etc.) which can be installed on almost any recent screen. All of this is quite expensive, but we have found a similar system at low cost for the same result.
What equipment to buy?
Attention, the tutorial below is for the moment reserved for computers under Windows. From the description, the product is compatible with Mac OS, Linux and Android TV. To get started, you will first have to buy the right product for the size of your screen:
- from 27 to 40 inches, you are going to need a 2 meter kit.
- from 22 to 48 inches, you are going to need a 3 meter kit.
- from 49 to 55 inches, you are going to need a 4 meter kit.
- from 60 to 70 inches, you are going to need a 5 meter kit.
It is better to take more than less, the led strip can be cut to the desired length. To manage the lighting, you will need software: Ambibox. Version 2.1.7 can be downloaded here: http://ambibox.ru/ambibox_downloads/AmbiBox_setup_2.1.7.zip
Install the software by double-clicking on the “AmbiBox_setup_2.1.7.exe” file and follow the steps for installing the product.
Install the LED strip behind your screen
Stick the Led strip on the back edges of your screen. It is strongly recommended to use angles to avoid bending the strip. If you have the material, you can also solder small wires at the four corners (which is what I did in the video). Connect the Light Box Dream Color box and power everything.
Make way for AmbiBox settings, see you on the next page.
