It's official. Announced with great fanfare on the John Deere website, the manufacturer has not done things by halves and sends 7 players to kick the butt of the 250 registered teams!
For Ralf Lenge, John Deere Public Relations Manager, “Due to the positive feedback and the high demand for John Deere models in the game, the engagement should be further broadened. In addition to a planned expansion of the in-game machine park, John Deere is sending its own esports team to participate in the FSL. The new John Deere esports team was recruited from seven Farming Simulator players from across Germany. "
A team with a well-oiled strategy
In an interview available on the German site of the American manufacturer, Fabio Auerbacher (20 years old) and Benedikt Dahme (32 years old), the 2 main members, FS players since the first episode, talk about their arrival in the team, the good strategy and expectations for the FSL:
How did you start playing eSports?
Fabio: “We have known each other as a team for a few years and play together regularly. Electronic sport started two years ago at Agritechnica. For the first time ever, the FS developers launched a bullet-pile competition. We looked at it, found it very funny and said, “Okay, we're going to go to the next event. The following year, Gaudi and two teams competed at FarmCon and took first and second places. "
In the league, you now compete as a John Deere team. How did it happen ?
Ben : “When Giants announced the creation of a Farming Simulator League with offline events, it was clear to us that we wanted to participate. Finding sponsors was a bit difficult, we thought we might not be able to attend. With the help of Giants, we contacted John Deere… ”
Fabio : “John Deere equips us with caps and t-shirts, so that we can give a consistent image of the tournaments. We also benefit from financial support, like other teams in the company, to participate in events taking place across Europe. This is important to us, because we live all over Germany, from Bremen to Lower Bavaria. " [Editor's note: I'm not even telling you about the Simulagri team…]
How does an offline game day in the league actually work?
Fabio : “Our team is made up of eleven players, seven of whom are registered for the series. Before each event, we name the team of three players plus the substitutes that compete against each other. The game mode itself is very different from the classic farming simulator, which involves building a working farm, in competitive mode the three teams compete against each other over time. The object of the game is to bring as many balls as possible from the field into a barn. "
It sounds easy. What is the difficulty?
Fabio: “Straw bales in Farming Simulator are always a hot topic because they like to do whatever they want. It takes a lot of experience to be fast too. "
Meet at the end of July to see if the team keeps its promises.
