In this text, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announces a reorganization of the company with the aim of making it more efficient and promoting the achievement of its long-term vision. To achieve this goal, Meta plans to reduce its workforce by around 10.000 people and close 5.000 vacant positions.
This reorganization will take place in several stages, with redundancies in the technical teams in April and in the commercial teams in May. Mark Zuckerberg also explains that Meta aims to become a more technical and profitable company, focusing on human connection through a range of advanced technologies such as AI, metaverse and encryption. Yes, the metaverse is now in second place. The company is following in the footsteps of other tech giants and heading towards artificial intelligence.
It also announces the establishment of a flatter organization, with fewer hierarchical layers and “increased developer productivity”. Meta wishes "to become a more efficient, more profitable and more technological company so that we can develop innovative products that improve people's lives".
