This map was the Arlésienne. We've been hearing about it for over a year, and now it magically lands on the FS 19 modhub on PC only (for now). Gwendal had hidden it from us. National Valley is advertised by its creator as a forest map. And the first steps taken on it show it to us directly.
The player starts, in new farmer mode, in a shed that sets the tone. Wood, planks, a forestry trailer and its grapple… these are not the 17 micro-plots to work on that will make you want to go on large farms. Yet National Valley is equipped. Sheep, pigs, cows and poultry are already placed, but ultimately represent little interest. The map is 90% covered with trees and surrounded by cliffs (so as not to escape).
The strength lies in the arrangement of this forest. We are more used to seeing maps with identical trees and often aligned. Here no. No artificial wood, but trees of all sizes, of all types, and really "randomly" arranged. Some are straight, others tilted, on the verge of falling. This is really what makes the agroforestry part of National Valley so charming. We can only salute the patient work of Gwendal for this provision.
