Is SnowRunner about to become the next standard in Farming Games? We won't go that far, but phase 8, currently being finalized, widens the field of possible activities in the game with the arrival of work on the farm.
Season 8 in development is called “Grand Harvest” and it is not for nothing. A new and large region (Belozersk Glade, in Central Asia) divided into 4 very colorful maps in which it will be necessary to restore the power supply, do some cleaning, and participate in the work of the farm.
For the energy part, it will mainly be necessary to deliver wind turbine blades (it feels like ETS 2 at times) and photovoltaic panels, in addition to the traditional supply deliveries. A recycling company will give you fairly basic cleaning tasks. Finally the agricultural part, which contrasts radically with the gameplay hitherto proposed now, will ask you to work the soil with the cultivator, to sow it, then to harvest it. And these works benefit greatly from the dynamics of the terrain which adds a good dose of difficulty, compared to Farming Simulator in particular, and from the tools which leave their real footprints on the ground. A feast for the eyes.
Strong point, the developers do not make the players wait, and the first agricultural activities are available as soon as the map is launched. You have to find an old tractor (it's the return of the K700!) that will accompany your brand new K7M, an articulated twin-wheeler that doesn't care about mud.
For small transport services, the small Step 39331 “Pike” is appearing in stores.
Mods on Nintendo Switch
Small parenthesis outside phase 8 to also talk about the arrival of mods on Switch. This had been announced in order to make the game fully crossplay with the use of mods compatible with all platforms. For technical reasons, Saber Interactive is still delaying the arrival of this possibility and prefers not to give a precise date when the mods will arrive on the Nintendo console.
