Developers Keen Games take a behind-the-scenes look at creating the world of Enshrouded

Keen Games developers reveal the secrets of the unique world of Enshrouded, entirely en voxels et handmade using procedural tools. Players will be able to discover these tools that have contributed to beautifying this universe to create an immersive and realistic experience. Last month, Keen Games revealed thatenshroudedTheir survival A-RPG, based on exploration, construction and combat, and which has risen at the top of the Steam Neo Fest leaderboard in October, will be available in Early Access on January 24, 2024.

This video revealing behind the scenes of creation of Enshrouded, illustrates how element creation and “home” layout shine with a little help from procedural generation and randomization. Although algorithms were used, their application was solely for the purpose of supporting the creative process, thus allowing the team to create more unique items and locations for players. Enshrouded will offer a immersive and wonderfully strange experience of the exploration aspect of the game on macro and micro levels. This will also allow players to better convey these places to their adventure companions while leaving them with a common backdrop to any type of journey they choose to undertake, again and again.

In the video, Jonas Drinnenberg, Art Director of Enshrouded, dives into some of the more technical points to demonstrate how being at the crossroads of creativity and IT elements is important. Shape a game using a custom, voxel-based graphics engine offers a high level of flexibility as well as great precision in customization.
