Handy Games sets the bar high enough with a very original game: Townsmen VR. Helmet on your head, you will be the hand of God no more and no less. You will have to lead several characters by grabbing them. Place a man on a tree so that he becomes a lumberjack, another at the edge of a pond so that he can fish, or even a last on ruins so that he undertakes to renovate it.
Townsman VR uses interesting possibilities offered by virtual reality to improve the concept of the original game Townsmen A Kingdom Rebuilt. Handygames combines the mechanics of divine game simulations and classic construction games. The points of view possible thanks to VR immerse you in an exciting medieval universe.
You start on an island where you will learn the basics of the gameplay. The game offers 13. They correspond to levels and you will navigate from one to another when all your tasks are completed. You will have to manage the first supplies of water in food to your castaways, to then build a village using the skills of all the inhabitants of the island. The management is done by hand: take a man, place him in front of a pile of stones, and he will take a pickaxe to make blocks that will be used for constructions. The actions are really intuitive and natural.
The scenario allows you to familiarize yourself with the crescendo commands. We start with fairly simple actions and constructions, to end with an empire, soldiers, and armaments to manage. You have to have your eyes everywhere and watch the resources in order to assign the right roles to the right people.
Townsmen VR is a seated, calm, and relaxing experience. The title is sold a bit expensive (less than 30 euros on Steam) but provides long hours of play. Attention for anglophobes, texts and dialogues are in English.
