The competition is only good, it seems. While Dovetail's Train Sim World 2 is rightly resting on its laurels, here is a seemingly serious competitor showing up, in a few days, since Train Life is announced in early access for the 31st. August 2021.
We had not told you directly about it, but the publisher Nacon revealed his “Life” project just 1 month ago. It is not a game but a series of simulations putting you in the shoes of a professional like a surgeon, a chef, or even a train conductor. The transition is easy since it is this last profession which opens the ball with Train Life - A railway simulator. The Steam sheet has an Early Access release for August 31. The title is developed by Siminteract. Created in 2014, this young Polish studio of around fifty people first specialized in simulations intended for training, before switching to the world of video games in 2018.
Train Life: driver and company manager
Train Life will offer players the opportunity to travel across Europe with passengers or freight, much like Train Sim World 2. In this early access, the game teleports you to German rails, where you will take your seat aboard several locomotives. . But what will distinguish Train Life from its direct English competitor is the possibility of running the business. Name, logo, fleet, you can visibly "Hire drivers to give them new contracts and explore new avenues". You will also be responsible for the maintenance of the machines in order to avoid breakdowns and emergency repairs.
Aesthetically, the trailer unveiled yesterday shows a real difference between Train Life and Train Sim World 2. The latter is much more detailed, whether on the machines or the scenery. The Unreal Engine also offers a more seductive overall rendering. On the presentation video, you can see the signage, the switches, and the management of the wagons once at the station. In terms of gameplay, the Steam sheet announces “Unexpected situations, such as a tree on the tracks, a car stuck on the tracks or a train in your way. " The weather forecast and a day-night cycle are also part of the game. We'll get back to you as soon as the game arrives at the editorial office.
