For starters, be aware that there is no official release date. The team even denied an outing for the Mod Contest which will take place in July. That is said. The mod will be available for all platforms. Name of the mod requires, the seasons will follow one another in the game, modifying the existing scenery on the fly. Snow will cover the map and stick to the tires and the trees will lose their leaves in the fall. The harvests will of course take place according to the climate, and it will be possible to carry out 2 harvests per complete annual cycle. While talking about crops, weeds are also changed from the original set. Straw and hay crops will rot if not stored under cover. A principle of crop rotation will also be part of the game, without knowing in detail what awaits us.
The weather at the heart of the seasons
The weather, although not very present in the game, has been redesigned and directly affects the management of your crops. Humidity seems to be a criterion taken into account. At night, for example, the grass you just cut will not dry out. On the other hand, if the weather is very sunny for a long period, then it will not be necessary to take out the tedder. The developer announces that the weather will be much more changeable than the original weather system.
These weather conditions will further affect crop growth. Rain, wind, hail, and storms produce different sounds depending on the wind speed or the amount of rain. And to the question of whether the rain will affect the structure of the soil, the developers will be satisfied to answer: "A little". The deformation of a muddy ground thus does not seem to be of the news.
All these climatic characteristics will be measurable with a manual tool which will give valuable information on bales, trees, pallets and soils.
Animals and vehicles are also affected by the seasons
For animals, the birth rate will be based on seasonality and more in a linear fashion as is the case in the base game. In summer, grazing animals will consume less feed because modders consider that they have grass on the ground to feed on. On the other hand, in winter, plan your hay stocks!
On the vehicle side, some additions specific to this version of the game complete the season mod compared to Farming Simulator 17. Maintenance is also split between mechanical repair and painting. Vehicle maintenance should be performed every 30 hours of use.
