Today, Snap is launching a new “All Flames” Lens (pun intended!) That transforms the ground via your Snapchat camera with a series of special effects.
In 2017, Snapchat introduced Outdoor Camera Lenses to boost your creativity and express yourself in a different way with your friends. Over the past two years, Lenses have evolved. They have indeed gone from a simple addition of a character or object in the world seen through the Snapchat camera to the possibility of transforming the sky into the sea or modifying the most emblematic monuments. This evolution is intended to help our community better understand the space around it to learn more about the world.
At the same time, Snap continues to innovate and pushes the limits of what is possible with a phone camera, thanks to Lenses powered by machine learning such as Lense Time Machine.
Today, Snap is launching the next evolution with the “Ground Segmentation” Lens which recognizes and can change in real time the ground you see through the camera, turning the world into lava or a body of water. This augmented reality process is powered by machine learning designed to understand the meaning and composition of the world, creating an experience that changes your environment. By immersing yourself in this great adventure, you will not really see the world the same way!
Ground segmentation Lenses are a natural evolution for Snap in understanding what the camera can see. They help the community to share stories with their friends in an innovative and fun way.
Additional statistics:
- More than 75% of our community on average uses augmented reality every day;
- Snapchat now hosts billions of AR experiences on a daily basis, and our daily active users interact with augmented reality almost 30 times a day on average.
