While waiting for Follow Me, modders kenny456 and Bullgore are offering Farming Simulator 22 PC/Mac players a towing solution to chain vehicles one after the other. This is the “Towing Chain With Hook” mod.
A welcome comeback. The mod had made people happy on FS 19 where many diverted its use to make it a follow me and move a large number of materials from one place on a map to another. Nevertheless, the tow chain mod is a bit complicated to understand during the first use.
It consists of several chains (3 lengths to choose from in the shop: 1.5m, 2.5m, 3.5m), and a tow hook (which is supplied with the chains). The chain has a red end. It will have to be hitched to the lead vehicle, with the A key (default hitch). The X key allows you to hook the other end to your tractor to prevent the chain from dragging on the ground.
Basic commands
To put it simply, you have to approach the vehicle to be towed, ideally in reverse if your chain is attached to the back of your tractor. Then aim at the front coupling of the tractor to be towed, and press the W key to bring up the coupling hook. You can position it correctly by holding the ALT key and using the 4 to 9 keys on the numeric keypad of your keyboard. Get back into your lead tractor, and press the X key to hitch the chain to the hook you just positioned.
Once the vehicles are connected
The tail tractor can follow you by steer and/or speed up, similar to a "Follow Me" mod. To do this, activate the steering (Key Y to switch from OFF to AUTO) and activate the accelerator (Key B to alternate active/inactive).
Finally you can display a menu by pressing SHIFT + T. It allows you to set some options such as the possibility of attaching the chain between the tractors by hand.
Much more than a long speech, I invite you to watch the tutorial video above to understand this unique mod.
