With the arrival of the TerraFarm mod (PC / Mac only) still in development for the beginning of the year, it may well be that we are witnessing the creation of a revolutionary mod here. In the Anglo-Saxon world, this is called a "gamechanger". Indeed, this mod will add completely new play possibilities to Farming Simulator by adding the ability to terraform the terrain using dedicated machines! Would we have there the basis of a future simulator of public works (TP)? This is what we are going to find out ...
The modder sfcmod got the idea for this mod by discovering the new terraforming possibilities offered by FS22 but being frustrated at not being able to exploit them while being behind the wheel of construction machinery that we have now seen appearing for several editions and which required maps specially fitted out. The most famous creators of this type of gear being FS Miner et FS-MCE.
He thus worked on the possibility of incorporating all the terraforming tools so that they are directly accessible from the buckets of construction machinery.
Before TerraFarm
To modify your terrain and access the raising, lowering or leveling tools, you had to go through the dedicated tool (default keyboard shortcut SHIFT + P). It was the same for applying specific textures to the floor. All the operations were carried out using the mouse and it was sometimes complicated to have the right angle to work efficiently. Especially since we did not have control over the force of the tool, and do not even speak of trying to terraform at night (no lighting is provided).
With the TerraFarm
With the right vehicle and the right bucket, you will be able to perform the same operations but this time at ground level with the controls of machines specially designed for these activities.
Compatibility with vehicles and maps
The mod is compatible with all maps because it directly uses the terrain to draw resources from. You can select two types of resources collected when digging: Rock (Rock) or Earth (Dirt). The mod automatically adds the missing resource (s) to the map.

The TerraFarm mod is available as soon as you equip your vehicle with the following basic buckets from the set:
- Albutt - Front loader
- Magsi - Telescopic
- Magsi - Wheel loader
- McCormack - High Spill
- Paladin - High Spill
Modded vehicles
Supported are FS Miner vehicles or any other vehicles using the following buckets:
- CASE CX250D long distance arm
- CAT-990H
- HAMM H11i road roller
- Liebherr R926
- Volvo EC750
- Volvo L-350H
HOW TO USE
When you are in a vehicle equipped with a TerraFarm compatible tool, you will see in the functions menu (F1) the possibility of activating or deactivating the function with the Y key.
Once activated, all you need to do is press the X or B keys to choose the type of behavior you want when digging or unloading.
Here on the left, we are for example in smoothing mode (smooth) of the ground when our bucket is horizontal and in heap unloading mode (normal) when we empty the bucket.
Note that you must own the land to be able to dump the materials on the ground. Otherwise, you will need a dumpster nearby.
TerraFarm options
Enable TerraFarm | When set to Yes, allows you to allow all compatible vehicles / buckets in the game to use the TerraFarm. |
Debug mode | When set to Yes, displays bucket control points that act in the field. For better immersion, we recommend changing this parameter to No. |
Disable discharge | Whether or not it authorizes unloading directly on the ground. Unloading in skips remains possible in all cases. |
Fill type | Choice of material obtained during unloading. Stone: stones (default) Dirt: earth |
Disabled terra paint | Prevents texture change during terraforming. When set to No, you will be allowed to also change the texture of the ground you terraform. |
Paint layer | Choice of texture to apply during terraforming. |
Discharge paint layer | Choice of texture to apply when unloading the bucket. |
When you change the type of material obtained when unloading, do so with empty buckets.
Paint radius | The scope of application of the soil texture |
Raise / lower strength | The force applied when lowering or raising the ground |
Raise / lower radius | The scope of application when lowering or raising the ground |
Smooth strength | The force applied when smoothing the ground |
smooth radius | The scope of application when smoothing the ground |
Flattened strength | The force applied when leveling the ground |
flattened radius | The scope of application when leveling the ground |
These settings are stored independently for each vehicle.
A mod still under development
The mod is still in the beta stage and the modder has still lots of ideas to improve it. At Univers-Simu, we will also take care of the French version (as soon as the mod is compatible with multi-languages) and follow this mod with great interest. We will keep you informed as soon as new features appear.
Where and how to download it
We strongly recommend that you do not download the mod from other sites than its creator on the GitHub. Once on the "releases" page, click on the file FS22_TerraFarm.zip available in its latest version then copy it to your mods folder.
