La version 1.4 is there and replaces for the occasion Pure Farming 2018 in direct competition with Farming Simulator 19. Just like the recent article on the latter, here are 10 reasons to prefer the Polish title to the German champion.
1 - The graphics
It's been 1 year since the game has been on the market, and Unity is showing what it has in its belly (and yet, we are still far from what this 3d engine is able to do). Long before its competitor, Pure Farming featured modern effects such as ambient occlusion, vignetting, bloom, depth of field, motion blur, and more. So many effects that only arrived on FS with version 19. The result is there, Pure Farming is a clean game, without frills, but which nevertheless requires a muscular configuration to bring the whole.
2 - Artificial intelligence finally at the top
When it was released a year ago, Pure Farming had functional workers, but nothing more. It could happen to encounter some bugs. The developers chose to rewrite all of the AI code from scratch with Update 1.2. But instead of making things better, they made the game completely unplayable. The workers no longer knew how to work properly. Faced with the anger and misunderstanding of the players, IceFlames had vowed to make a suitable copy with theUpdate 1.4. It's done, and better yet. The workers are now able to manage all the tools of the game, including the press to perform the round-ballers, which the workers of the competitor are quite unable to do without installing a CoursePlay type mod. For a solo player, Pure Farming is the game with the best AI today.
3 - The last Deutz-Fahr harvesters
How to remain insensitive to the green of the latest Deutz Fahr harvesters? The firm has distinguished itself in the game since the last update and steals the show from other agricultural simulations which are satisfied only with the brand's tractors.
4 - Breeding and its more complete cycles
Breeding is undoubtedly one of the strengths of Pure Farming. Sheep, cows, pigs, poultry, rabbits, goats… There is plenty to do. All animals have several stages of development, so you won't see a cow but a calf when you buy your first cattle. The cow also ends his career in minced steak. We are not vegan at IceFlames, nor at Simulagri ^^
5 - Different gameplay
The balance between play and simulation in Pure Farming is different from competing titles. On certain points, it is more advanced in the simulation, with for example, the impossibility of maneuvering behind or sideways a plow stuck in the ground. However, the physics of tools and vehicles make the game more "fun" and playful, less "headache". On this point, it is up to everyone to judge.
6 - Foreign maps and their cultures
No inconsistency in Pure Farming. Rice is in Asia, olives in Italy, and smoking in Colombia 😀 In other words, this is not the kind of game where you will grow sugar cane or cotton in Germany. Strong point of the game, it is a pity that the plane travel system is not more advanced in its use, and we too often find ourselves playing on the starting map. Nevertheless, the possibility of juggling from one map to another to see a little scenery or sunbathe in Italy is established, and this is the only game to offer it.
7 - Modding "for dummies"
Shortly after the game's launch, the developers implemented a built-in and streamlined modding tool. Perhaps a little too much will say the most picky modders. However, creating a mod in PF is straightforward and often only takes a few hours. With each update, the tool evolves and integrates new vehicles. It is also possible to import your own characters. Remember that we had to wait for version 19 of Farming Simulator to only be able to change the farmer's outfit.
8 - Scenario modes for city dwellers
Agricultural simulation games are often difficult to understand for those who do not come from the environment or who do not live in the countryside. Giants Software offers since the first FS a mission system to learn to play. Cattle and Crops too. Farm Manager and Pure Farming go further and offer a scripted mode in addition to case-by-case missions, immersing you in a well-crafted story against a background of heritage. A real TV series!
9 -Evolution with each update
Will there be a Pure Farming 2020? 2022? 2024? We do not know. But one thing is certain, IceFlames, under the leadership of Techland, keeps its game up to date and adds new content without having to buy back the license. Buying Pure Farming is like telling yourself that we are getting our money's worth. So yes the starting content is meager, but the developers show us their motivation to push the game forward with each update. And, at the time of the annual Fifa or cycle franchises, we can only welcome the approach.
10 - To play rebels and support independent play
It took until 2018 to have a slew of agricultural simulations to emerge. Choosing Pure Farming means supporting the small independent game against the video game giants. Because yes, IceFlames is not Ubisoft, and without this sometimes a little violent competition, some developers would fall asleep on their laurels. And just for that, it is sometimes good to look at what is being done elsewhere.
