After mentioning the wheels in the mid-February FAQ update, the team at MasterBrain Bytes decided to give us a little rundown of the different tire profiles that we will have in the final version of Cattle and Crops. Until now, all vehicle and tool tires have used V-profiles, the new tires not only introduce a whole new look, but also new sizes depending on the tools. And the developers surprise us: “We plan to use a revised tire shader with the v0.6.0 update, which will allow us to display tire dirt and expansion in more detail! "
A seed drill combination to complete the Hammer Corn King
The Hammer Corn King seed drill was not the most suitable for sowing fields, so a new companion is coming: the Lemken Saphir 7 / Zirkon 8 seed drill combination. A set that will allow field preparation and sowing in a single pass. The release date of the tool is not specified at the moment.
Physics is improving
If there is one point on which Cattle and Crops does not have to be ashamed against the competitor, it is physics. However, the development team seems to want to go further in realism and wants to introduce the Nvidia PhysX 4.0 algorithms, which should improve vehicle stability. Here is a small intro video by Nvidia:
Multiple cultures with specific needs
In the last dev log dated February 15, we also learn that the game will be able to accommodate up to… 255 different cultures! “For storage reasons, there is a technical limit to the maximum possible quantity of fruit types. A total of 255 slots will be available, which should clearly be more than enough. At the moment, it is not yet possible to add other types of fruit by modders. This will of course be changed as soon as we are satisfied with the implementation of the complete vegetation system. "
Each culture in place will have very distinct needs. For example, we learn that the NPK fertilizer system will be integrated into the game. “We plan to divide liquid fertilizers into nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) because plants have different needs and consumption. The exact distribution to be implemented has not yet been fully determined. There will always be slurry and artificial fertilizer. "
Will raytracing be used as a technology?
“Hardware-accelerated ray tracing is very interesting, but so far it has only been used in a limited way, even newer graphics cards only hit 300 million rays / second. This is a very limited budget. It is very difficult to achieve 60 FPS in complex scenes, even with low resolution.
Nvidia's offerings cannot be used with DX12 or Vulkan so far, and ray tracing requires a lot of rendering extensions. We plan to at least extend rendering with Vulkan, but ray tracing application does not is not yet justified. "
