For 2 years now, we have been walking the aisles of the kitchen of our large restaurant to create the best dishes from a recipe book (or in freestyle mode) in order to satisfy customers. Available on PC and consoles, the non-VR version is sometimes difficult to learn, especially in gamepad control. VR takes on its full meaning here. Intuitive, you don't need to do a long tutorial to understand the basics.
A VR conversion by specialists
Big Cheese Studio entrusted the VR conversion to Gameboom VR, developer of the excellent Thief Simulator VR. 140 ingredients, 80 recipes, and ever more demanding customers. The recipe for the game remains unchanged. Day after day, you will be called to the kitchen to simmer the small dishes you order. But virtual reality changes absolutely everything here. The interface is readable, pleasant to use, very ergonomic. The player can use the sticks of the controllers (here tested with the Oculus Quest 2 without worry) to move and turn, but you are free, if your space is large enough, to move around your real environment.
The gameplay unchanged but more intuitive
Grab utensils, measure out the salt, grab a plate to put it in the microwave… the orders are obvious, well especially under the fingers. We feel at ease, like in our own kitchen. The sandbox mode always allows you to get your hands on, at will, with all the equipment and all the ingredients of the game. In addition to the tutorial mode, it is ideal before embarking on the scenario mode. If you already know the game, then the only question that bothers you and that I can answer is: Yes, it is still possible to put the gas cylinder in the oven 😉
Note that this new version in virtual reality takes the content of the base game, and does not include the DLC Pizza and other Cakes and Cookies.
