FarmCon 24: Recap of information revealed on Farming Simulator 25

The first day of FarmCon 24 has concluded, leaving attendees and the community buzzing about upcoming features in Farming Simulator 25. Hosted by Giants Software, the event highlighted the latest advancements and additions to the popular series Farming Simulator.

A record attendance

FarmCon 24 set a new attendance record with 3 participants who came to discover the latest developments in agricultural simulation. Martin Rabl kicked off the event with general presentations, including Christian Ammann, CEO of Giants Software, and Roland Schmidt, VP of Marketing at Fendt. True to form, Giants Software organized this show entirely in-house, without using a specialist events company.

Farming Simulator 22 review and new features

Giants Software announced that Farming Simulator 22 was the best game in the series to date with a total of 22 DLCs. The latest DLC, the Fendt Pack, introduces two new tractors, the 380 GTA Turbo and the Xylon 524, as well as accessories. This pack marks the end of FS22 and paves the way for FS25.

We also learned at Farmcon that Farming Simulator Mag number 6 will be released on July 23 and will contain more information on Farming Simulator 25. The collector's editions are already available for pre-order on Amazon.

Awards and performances technical

Gold Partner Awards went to Farmer Cop, Homer, and others, while Black Diamond Awards went to Black Sheep Modding and Cornhub. Giants CTO Stefan then presented the Giants 10 game engine improvements for FS25. These improvements include dynamic shadows, improved weather effects, more detailed vehicle and tool textures, and better terrain resolution.

Dynamic terrain

Participants were treated to a dynamic presentation of the field. Terrain resolution has been increased to 1 meter with Displacement Mapping (see this video for explanations) of 12,5 cm, which means that terrain transitions will be visually smoother. Vehicles will now leave ruts when crossing soft ground, adding increased realism to the gameplay experience and physics. The water will also react to the movements of characters and vehicles, creating more realistic waves and splashes.

Introduction of GPS for optimized field management

One of the biggest announcements was the integration of GPS into the game. Shown in a pre-FarmCon video, this feature will allow players to use an automated assistant to work fields using predefined plots, including making headlands. This system is designed to automatically scan the field when an attached implement approaches, taking into account the type of implement and the working width. The generated route will respect the boundaries of the field, thus preventing vehicles from getting stuck in ditches or outside the boundaries of the field.

Overview of Riverbend Springs

Attendees also got a first look at Riverbend Springs, FS25's new US map. New features include new crops like spinach, rice, and long-grain rice, as well as interactive features like navigable barges, trees, bushes, new soil textures, and more.

New features also include buildable farm houses and small-scale production, thus increasing the possibilities for customization and management of farms. Riverbend Springs also promises a variety of unique spaces such as construction sites, logging sites, vintage farms, and unique buildings.

Machines and gameplay

The final session showcased FS25 machines and gameplay information. The rice will be available in two varieties and pre-orders will include the MacDon Pack, with mowing features and a new harvesting head. Consumables for wrappers and balers will also be available, adding a new dimension of realism to the game.

This concludes the recap of the first day of FarmCon 24. See you on the Univers Simu Twitch channel for more information soon.
