Huge! But who had this crazy idea at Giants Software to reissue a real Commodore C64 / C128 cartridge, computers from the early 80s, to house a retro version of Farming Simulator?
What a surprise when the FS 19 presskit arrived to see the contents of this “limited edition” box. And yet, the sticker "Cartidge for Commodore 64/128" did not lie, there was indeed a cartridge of 64 kb inside. Yes you are not dreaming, a Farming Simulator encoded in a file of 58 kb precisely. And the basic rules of the game are there. You have 3 tractors, 1 harvester, a plow, a seeder and a trailer.
The goal of the game: not to go bankrupt
Arcade oriented, we can no longer speak of a simulation game. Here you will have to plow, sow, harvest and deliver to the coop, all in record time, before your vehicles' fuel reserves run out. Before this stage, you must quickly refuel at the only gas station on the map, with the money you just earned by selling your wheat. This race against time turns in a loop. Here no purchase of vehicles or agricultural machinery. No more money, no more diesel, or no more seeds in the planter, and it's Game Over!
This C64 version is teeming with small details: real collision management, trailer reverse gear, reversing beeps, engine sounds specific to each tractor. It would certainly have been a hit if it had seen the light of day in 1982, even if the geek attitude was less present in the countryside at the time.
