We had already read the rules (available here), but we knew nothing about the trials. Giants Software lifted the veil on June 5th. If the video was not clear to everyone, we will detail the different steps and the rules of the game below.
First of all you have to create your character as it will appear in the game. The options are identical to the game as we know it. Then you have to select the team in which you will play. You need 6 players to start a game (3 for the blue team and 3 for the red team). There is one captain per team, who will also be a player.
A story of strategy
A list of vehicles appears, it is the "pick & ban". A phase during which the captain will choose which vehicles NE will Administrative staff used. Each vehicle has its own characteristics: Speed, power, weight, front loader, tires… The choice is strategic!
Then you have to choose the vehicles that will be in play. We always play on the same characteristics, here again the right choice is crucial and must be made in agreement with your team. These tractors will have the role of pressing the bales and transporting them. Once the vehicles have been chosen, it is time to select 2 “power plays”, these badges which will improve your performance such as for example stronger acceleration, higher speeds, autoloading for balls, etc.
A map divided into 5 zones
The match begins on a map comprising 5 zones. Each team has its own fields. The first area is the spawn area. At start-up, you have 10 seconds to change vehicles with the other members of your team. There is no teleportation, you have to move from one tractor to another on foot.
The second zone is a space made up of eight podiums on which 4 harvesters and 4 presses are placed randomly. Each team has these 8 podiums since the map is mirrored. When a competitor climbs in the equipment of the podium number 1, for example, the apparatus of the opponent's podium number 1 is deactivated and thus wastes time for the opponent.
WARNINGS : if the opposing team seizes the 4 harvesters OR the 4 presses, the game is over! You lost ! This is a “lightning” tactic and the fastest way to win a round.
The third area is the wheat field. There is no mystery here, you have to harvest as quickly as possible. In the middle of your square plot is a transshipment. The wheat delivered by the latter brings in 1,5 times more. To reach the fourth area, that of the bale unloading, you will have to go through bridges. But be careful, when you descend a bridge to cross it, your opponent's will rise to block it! That really complicates things.
To score points, everything happens here. But the count is a bit special. If you unload a bale directly into the lower part of the barn, you score 10 points. If you place it on the conveyor which brings the ball to the upper part, you score 10 points multiplied by a coefficient indicated under the stopwatch at the top of the screen.
The coefficient in question does not vary at random. It increases depending on the amount of wheat you bring to the fifth area: the village. The more your silo fills up, the more your coefficient increases, while that of the opposing team decreases.
And Giants Software didn't stop there! The higher your coefficient, the slower your bale conveyor. This leaves time for the opposing team to deliver their wheat and put the batons in your wheels. Are we further complicating things? The slower your conveyor, the faster your opponent's ... until it breaks down “because of overheating”, it gets completely crazy!
When your multiplying coefficient is at the maximum, your opponent has his conveyor blocked, but yours no longer earns (in other words, a ball is equal to 10 points ...)
It is therefore a team effort that will have to be put in place to have a good coefficient and to put balls which brings a maximum of points in the upper part of the barn. After 15 minutes, the game is over. The team with the most points wins the round.
Some tips
The first to put a ball in the barn doubles the points of that ball.
A drone drops at half time 2 "power plays". The first boosts the points of the balls, the second increases the value of the wheat delivered.
