Aerosoft makes us participate in the playtest of Heavy Duty Challenge, an extreme off-road crossing simulation developed by NanoGames. Not being familiar with the official rules, I discovered a physics-based simulation, much more precise than SnowRunner. However, there is still a long way to go in terms of development before arriving at the final version.
For the moment only one track is available. It offers you to go off-road in 3 vehicles (out of 12 in the final version). The official rules of the Europa Truck Trial are applied. I discover them through play, and that's also what you expect from a simulation: learning. Several categories are to be covered, from 2 to 4 axles. Here, point of speed, we handle the trucks to the nearest centimeter to cross the crossing points (without touching the beacons please) and score points. On a map, you have several routes. You are free to do them in the order you want. At the end of the tests, the points are counted.
For the moment, the version in playtest does not have any option. The keyboard controls are displayed on the home page. You can't adjust the graphics quality, which is a shame because my PC, although based on an RTX Serie 30, struggles to display the very high level of detail on the ground. There are still many development steps to be taken, both in terms of optimization and ergonomics, but the game is promising if everything is not done in a hurry.
