5 after its release, Spintires, the original game, continues its solo route and welcomes a new paid DLC: Chernobyl.
On the Steam Workshop, at the start of the year, we saw a map called “Maps Somewhere in Pripyat” for MudRunner. At the time, I even noted in the test article "Pripyat deserves its DLC". My wish was granted, but not on the right game, since it is on Spintires The Original Game which sees the unloading of a complete pack including a large map and 2 new vehicles. Small peculiarity of the map: it has a high radiation area that will damage your vehicle if you get too close. Moreover, to avoid them, you are now equipped with a Geiger counter.
A scenario for recovering wood
In Spintires, your ultimate goal is to collect wood. What relationship with Chernobyl will you tell me? To set up the story, the DLC Steam page introduces your journey this way:
“On April 26, 1986, a design flaw discovered during a safety test at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in northern Ukraine caused an explosion and fire that devastated the city of Pripyat and its surroundings. A first evacuation was ordered, evacuating approximately 116 people and an exclusion zone of 000 kilometers was set up by the military.
A few years later, unofficial explorers known as stalkers stumbled upon trucks entering the exclusion zone under the pretext of retrieving trees killed in wildfires. The truth is that healthy pines are felled in large numbers and sold across Europe. "
There you have it, all you have to do is explore Pripyat, the Red Forest, Lake Kupsta and run around the mythical Duga radar to complete your quest. Good luck !
