The famous Alpine rail network awaits you in the classic Gotthardbahn route for Train Simulator.
The Gotthardbahn is second on the podium of the highest lines in the world. It was built between 1872 and 1882, it crosses the Alps and passes through the Saint-Gothard tunnel, at an altitude of 1151 meters. At the time, the Gotthard tunnel (15 km) was the longest rail tunnel in the world.
Rivet Games has meticulously recreated the 110 km of the Gotthard route. It goes from Erstfeld (on the north side of the Alps, at an altitude of 472 meters) to go to Bellinzona, towards the south, which is 241 meters above sea level on the Italian border. This route was laid out before construction of the Gotthard Base Tunnel was completed. Due to the large elevation differences, long approach ramps are used on either side, as well as several spiral tunnels under the mountains.
The operations on the Gotthardbahn are demanding and diverse. Many services are provided by a fleet of SBB locomotives: the Re 460s.
