A contraction of the English words “costume” and “play”, cosplay is a hobby that consists of playing the role of characters, generally from video games or manga, by imitating their costume, hair, make-up and attitudes.
A true creative hobby, it brings together a large community of followers, always inclined to surpass themselves to offer the most incredible creations. If the practice is mainly done by passionate amateurs, the level of the costumes, it is very professional. In many ways, cosplayers are like artists with a whole range of skills ranging from embroidery, makeup, painting and acting during stage performances.
The collective takes on its full meaning in the community of cosplayers where everyone - rich in their knowledge - shares their tips and advice for working with new materials and making creations ever closer to their favorite characters. Benevolence is the key word in this universe and it is fully expressed during cosplay competitions where the most seasoned as well as the neophytes share their passion.
