Here is a little game that has come a long way. Arrived in alpha version a few months ago, Exponential Game, the developer, will have succeeded in releasing its game before the end of the year, since the final version should arrive on December 13. Unpretentious, however, he comes to follow in the footsteps of MudRunner ... even if we stay (very) far. To discover.
It's a little indie game that didn't make a lot of noise during its development. Lumberjack Simulator was brought to us in alpha several months ago now. At the time, at the first launch, one of the developers had guided us because there was no menu or configuration, a real pain. It was impossible to play the gamepad and no game scenario was offered. In short, we had put this game aside, very close to oblivion.
A few days ago, a Facebook message warned us that a series of updates had taken place and we were very strongly urged to relaunch the game. I must admit that, faced with the first experience, I took my time. This afternoon, I decided to finally offer you a video on this independent game, at least to thank Exponential Game for having involved us in the development.
The surprise was great. The game starts on a menu, with the possibility of doing some tutorials to take control of the few vehicles present. We didn't have that luxury in the alpha versions. Finally we were going to discover Lumberjack Simulator. The principle is simple. Unfortunately too simple. You are in the forest, and you will have to use your tools to cut wood and bring it back to the sawmill. Before you start, you must remember to refuel the vehicles. This scenario, pumped straight from MudRunner, is hassle-free and only the environment and the very random physics will put the sticks in your wheels.
On the graphics side, the game has made a leap forward, but remains very far from current standards. The textures are bland and repetitive, the shine is sometimes misused and the vehicles are sorely lacking in detail. We do not yet have the price of the game, but we can only hope that the developers make the choice of a call rate, under the bar of 10 euros. We will come back, in video, to Lumberjack Simulator after its final release on December 13.
