A few days ago, you could discover on several Youtube channels, the first images of Pure Farming 2018. The game finally loaded on the PC, I take a little time to tell you about it.
Please note, this is not a test, far from it, the publisher only presents a version "reserved for the press", which is in fact the version that it was possible to see (and test) at the Gamescon this summer. In short, it's already seen, but it allows you to dig a little into the game files and find out a little more.
I had not followed the news of the title and it is with surprise (although) that I discover that the game is powered by Unity. Remember, I was telling you about this amazing game engine last week in my article on Pro Farm Manager. This framework makes it possible in particular to develop cross-platform games with varying degrees of ease.
Small visual slap
It is no longer a surprise, faced with a Farming Simulator which would need to renew its graphic environment, Pure Farming combines the finesse of textures of the title of Focus and the breathtaking Cattle & Crops models, dotted with an interesting play of light with effective ambient occlusion, all with GTA airs when standing in 3rd person view.
For the moment only a few Zetor tractors and equipment for very specific crops are available but, except the interior of the vehicles, nothing is left to chance and the smallest nut is modeled. Only downside, the particle system (spray, grape / coffee / etc,…) which will have made my eyes bled: p A bit like the silage of Cattle & Crops pre-alpha. We keep our fingers crossed that the developers improve all of this.
The clothes do not make the man
If the first start of the game made my eyes shine, I quickly became disillusioned. The publisher has not yet communicated on the mechanics of the game, this pre-alpha leaves a doubt that I hope will not be verified: the mission system.
In this Pure Farming demo, the player evolves in one of the 5 countries - Japan, Italy, USA, Colombia, Germany - with predefined missions…. and rather mundane. The player has little freedom. You start a game and find yourself guided by your smartphone. Hopefully the definitive game won't be just an arcade-oriented game. This “press” version only allows harvests (also with a very poor fertilization phase). There is not the slightest trace of artificial intelligence, not a worker on the horizon, silage is done with a trailer at the end of the forage harvester.
Efficient pad management
Camera level, I was able to launch the title with an XBOX One pad which was perfectly recognized, which allowed me to manage the viewing angles with the right stick. Nevertheless, the movements are (voluntarily) restricted and we can only move the view very little away or on the contrary zoom in on a part of the material. The management of actions is simplified, not to say simplistic. All you have to do is take your harvester, come to the edge of the field and press a button to start everything. On Farming Simulator, you have to hitch up, lower the cutter bar, start the harvester, etc…. In short, I had the impression of playing Farming on my PSVita. To each his own, but for me it's a bit tight.
I will not say more because it would only be guesses (mods? Multi? Etc.) but for a game which is due to land on March 13, 2018… you will understand me… or not 🙂
