The OneDrive online storage service offered by Microsoft suffered an outage on January 2, 2023. According to Microsoft, it was a “side effect” due to a modification to one of its applications. This affected OneDrive cloud storage and prevented many users from accessing their backed up files for several hours. The function that caused the problem was the one that listed the documents stored online. Microsoft assured that the bug had been fixed and the situation would return to normal, but some users reported difficulties in accessing the OneDrive service. It is not yet clear whether this outage will have any consequences for backing up user data to the cloud.
