The verdict is finally in for the Mod Creators Awards in September. Three vehicles and two maps stand out to catch the eye of the developers. And that is understandable.
And the selection by the developers is always done according to 4 categories: Vehicles, Map design, Environment, and Unique Mod. For the first, there are 2 vehicles: The “Project VARV” and the “Tayga-257 (6 × 6)” pack.
The "Project VARV" is an all terrain truck as we can see in Heavy Duty Challenge. It goes everywhere, is ideal for scout use, but is a bit light. It is not uncommon to see it take off from the ground when it picks up a little speed. Few options other than additional tanks. From the very mouth of the designer, "It is not a truck to be used with trailers, because the suspensions are not made for that".
The Tayga-257 (6 × 6) is a formidable Soviet truck equipped from head to toe and which will allow you to do as much breakdown service on a platform as small transport missions. It has many options, and its 6-wheel drive gives it good grip. Small black spot after a few minutes of play at the wheel: it does not shine hard. This is often the case with this type of vehicle. But that's a detail. Go to the mod sheet to discover the endless possibilities offered by this PC and console compatible truck!
Let's move on to the maps. The first one, Lake Coap, was distinguished with the "Map Design" award from the developers of SnowRunner. With a size of 2km x 2km, it is covered with snow and reminds us of our first hours of playing on the game. It has a garage, 3 trailer vendors, and 2 service stations. 36 missions and 8 viewpoints will take you through Lake Coap in all directions. It is not very difficult and we enjoy playing it solo or multi.
Change of scenery with the second map, Sayano-Shushenskaya. Here no snow, but mud. Back to basics in the flooded roller coaster, distinguished by the “Map Environment” award, where high difficulty is required to carry out the 12 contracts and unlock the gas station. Get out the crampons, and especially the friends, because this large map of 4 km² has little bitumen. On the mod.io card of the map, you will find a large number of let's play, including an 8-hour stream offered by the youtuber Leeloo Play.
The unique mod is really… unique. A Tuk Tuk "imported from Sri Lanka", offered by the modder FlamingYakuma. Do not laugh ! Not immediately. It has nothing to do with tricycles with thin wheels. We are in SnowRunner anyway! The vehicle is therefore adapted accordingly. So yes you will not tow trailers, and will not transport logs. But its lightness makes it a cool mod to use as a scout. A few repair and fuel storage options will make this a good convoy companion. For the rest, it's just for fun ... as for real Tuk tuk races.
