Dovetail Games does it again. Like Train Sim World 2 which was announced just 2 months before its release, episode 3 which arrives 2 years later is announced for this September 6, 2022, not even a month before its arrival at the station! Just enough time to end the summer holidays.
Train Sim World 3 has appeared on Gamesplanet:
•The Standard version (-15%)
•The Deluxe version (-15%)
A one minute trailer, followed by a more detailed 45 min presentation by the developers themselves. It did not take less for the English of Dovetail Games to announce the imminent arrival of Train Sim World 3. On the program, a slight evolution, both in the mechanics of the game and in its environment.
It must be said that Train Sim World reigns supreme in the field of railway simulation. The game is successful and satisfies both experts and neophytes. This episode 3 follows suit with a new beginner mode, the "training center" for the discovery of the environment.
New game, new locos and new routes. TSW 3 will include brand new routes on its release such as the German Kassel-Würtzburg route on which you will pass a first generation ICE, the English Southeastern Highspeed line which connects London to its southern suburbs at the controls of the Javelin and finally a route already practiced by the oldest since it is the Col Cajon in California, a route available in DLC since 2012 on the old Train Simulator. This last route will be carried out using new trains under BNSF license such as the ES44C4.
Still no Unreal Engine 5
New episode and revision of the graphics engine for more immersion. A dynamic weather system is announced which will make the journeys a little more difficult, new volumetric clouds, and better, more realistic lighting, in particular on the glare effect at the exit of the tunnel. Despite this visual advance, the game is still not powered by the Unreal Engine 5 and is content for the moment with the previous generation, the 4.
DLCs, the business model of Dovetail Games
The presentation also mentions the transfers of DLC (preserved collection) as was the case during the transition from Train Sim World 1 to TSW 2, where players did not have to repay the DLC. And it's at the end that we learn that YES, the DLCs purchased on Train Sim World 2 will be immediately available on Train Sim World 3! The developers didn't want to make "the same mistake" as in the past, i.e. delivering DLC in dribs and drabs, forcing players to constantly switch between TSW 1 and 2 depending on the content they wanted to play. .
The game will therefore arrive on the PC platforms (Steam/Epic), Playstation 4 and 5 and Xbox One and Series S/X. Note for the latter that Train Sim World 3 will be included Day One in the Microsoft Game Pass! Several offers are available, here is a table to guide you in your choice:
