M2H, the developer of Verdun released in 2015, launches a sequel to its title of automobile "race", Crash Drive 2, which is quite logically entitled Crash Drive 3, a kind of open world where vehicles hover more than they touch the ground. Discovery.
It's a title full of surprises. Not being familiar with previous games, I land on Crash Drive 3 in a completely explosive gameplay. We operate in an open world, and especially multiplayer, in which the player must participate in events that take place on a regular basis (approximately one event every 3 minutes). Races, police against thieves, stunts, crown capture, master of the valley, here is an example of the 10 activities on offer. But you don't have to participate. You can level-up in the open terrain by collecting coins, making figures on the many springboards and loops provided for this purpose, or by breaking the scenery.
After you collect your first dollars, you will have access to a wide variety of cars in your garage. Gear that you can improve later, each with its own characteristics (road holding, max speed, nitro, etc.). The speed of the game and the constant take-offs are reminiscent of Rocket League. Regulars of the latter will feel like fish in the water behind the wheel of racing cars. Except that here, the land is almost limitless. The steam sheet of the game is also clear on this subject: “Ride a rocket to the moon, storm the royal castle in the forest, enter the saloon in the canyons of the Old West or experience the pleasures of skidding on arctic snow. Or how about a relaxing trip on a ferry bound for the tropics… Thinking of exploring this world someday? "
And in these large areas, you will always meet players, and for good reason it is the very principle of the game: multiplayer. To ensure that there are enough participants, Crash Drive 3 is cross-platform. A keyboard (PC), Xbox, Switch, or PS4 icon is displayed on the left side of player names. It is however possible to play offline on a single player campaign, but the fun is much less present.
Crash Drive 3 is rather a good surprise and… its price too: less than 13 euros on Steam, but also on Xbox One (Xbox Series S / X) and Nintendo Switch, as I write these few lines. ($ 19,99 for the PS4 / PS5 version).
A good dose of fun for the holidays
