Here is a DLC that we did not see coming. Between its announcement and the release date, only a few days have passed. On the program of this new free DLC, 2 new vehicles and a new map. And the gameplay, is it changing?
(May 9 update: the article has been modified because it was confusing. The "desert" map is not part of the DLC, it is a certified mod. I decided to present it to you here because, like the map "The Rockies", the gameplay is different, namely that you will have to deliver something other than wood ...)
Vehicles, do we really need them?
MudRunner is a game that is full of mods as much as Farming Simulator. Adding 2 new vehicles was clearly not the priority. On the menu, a Chevrolet Napco 3100 and a GMC DW950. The Chevy is an old 4WD that is nimble and powerful enough to navigate the most technical maps. It will easily find its place alongside the traditional Jeeps of the game. For the heavyweight, however, we are still looking. It arrives with a relatively complex map, except this vehicle is not all-terrain. In the end, we find it immediately in the map "The Rockies" but we do not use it as it is unusable as soon as the terrain becomes more complicated. In a certified map, like "The Desert", you won't do 400m without getting bogged down.
The map breaks the routine
Fed up with delivering logs? You will be delighted to hear that the developers are introducing some minimal changes here. On "The Rockies", we find ourselves in a green setting worthy of the DLC American Wilds. A little color in a mountainous terrain where you will still have to deliver wood, but not just any old way. No collection point or log kiosk, but small trailers preloaded with a few logs. They are towed with cars. The Chevrolet therefore takes service, while the GMC remains on the sidelines. It changes the gameplay and the strategy a bit. Going to get a trailer is simple, bringing it back becomes complicated. In this map, no garage will come to your aid. As for wood, a multitude of repair trailers is to be discovered to overcome the level. Overall, the difficulty of the “Rockies” is well balanced although a little easy.
Will you take back some desert?
Let's move on to dessert, heuuu to the “desert”. Have you tested this "certified" mod on PC? In principle the desert is made up of sand. Except in MudRunner. If 90% of the map is covered with dunes, the remaining 10% is nothing more than a mixture of sand + water + earth. And this mixture will overcome the craziest machines! Even my favorite Tatra Euro 6 got stuck regularly… so the others, let's not talk about it. The Napco 3100, however light, will not be allowed the slightest off-track. As for the GMC DW950, once again, it is totally dumped.
Why are you talking about this map? Because once again, we are leaving the usual gameplay where you have to deliver logs. On this map, several locked garages, and no garage points to hang out. To unlock them, there is no choice but to start from the initial garage with repair trailers on your back. But unblocking the garages is not our priority, we have to deliver the sawmills. Again no wood. This time it is fuel that will have to be delivered to ensure the proper functioning of the factories. Also 6 trailers are placed on the corners of the desert. To recover them and hope to deliver them, take out the heavy artillery, and leave aside the machines provided with the Old-Timers DLC. Here we will opt for heavy goods vehicles with at least 6 driving wheels. Be careful because there is no gas station to refuel. The only way to do this is to troubleshoot your vehicles and send them back to square one. In short, this map with the yellowish decor is surprising and is not the simplest.
For the 2 maps presented in this article, by going really slowly and without big mistakes, we can quickly arrive at 2 hours of play to supply the sawmills. Not bad for free content!

A surprise DLC
Note globale
We were rather expecting MudRunner 2 in this second quarter of 2, it is finally a DLC far from disappointing that is born. Without revolutionizing the genre, it remains in the lineage of American Wilds and offers a few additional hours of play and always welcome.
