Astragon and Stillalive, aware that Bus Simulator 21 still has "some technical problems", do not abandon their baby and offer an update (the 2.21) which, if it brings a large batch of bug fixes, is mainly based around pedestrians. Their AI is greatly improved.
Pedestrians who will no longer cross the walls?
Here is the changelog, in French, of this update. On this long list of fixes, a good third is indeed dedicated to pedestrians. :
- Pedestrians will no longer step or fall through bridges! FINALLY ! This was mainly the case on the Angle Shores map (especially on Golden Island, at Timber Ridge and Coyote Bush). For the Seaside Valley map, pedestrians will no longer walk on highways and will no longer congregate massively around bus stops.
- New NPC traffic lanes to Golden Island and Arnold Park.
- Passengers no longer get stuck when the bus is full. They leave if they can't find a suitable seat. (Please note that you may observe fewer people standing on the bus, but they will now use the intended standing positions.)
- Improved pedestrian behavior at crosswalks.
- You (as the driver) can honk on pedestrians in front of your bus to make them go faster and prevent people from crossing for a short time.
- Passengers waiting at a bus stop and passengers getting off a bus driven by NPCs no longer push each other into the street and no longer block the bus stop.
- Passengers waiting at a bus stop wave to the bus they are waiting for and ask it to stop.
- Waiting passengers still board your bus (if there is space left on the bus).
- There are no more open umbrellas on the buses and all pedestrians hold umbrellas when it rains.
- Passengers now always show their ticket (wasn't showing it when on the phone before)
- NPC driver hands no longer move while driving

The update is done automatically on consoles and on Steam. Note that we tested the game on Steam Deck recently, and that the experience is really conclusive! The textual interface is a little limited in terms of readability (long mission texts), but the Pad + Touchscreen control works at the top.
