The September update is available, according to the roadmap planned by the developers. A complete gardening system, requested by the community, allows you to cultivate 8 types of crops and grow tomatoes, cabbage, peppers and strawberries, among others.
Each crop needs different amounts of water, has its own growth time, can get sick and need extra care with agricultural treatments. Fertilization is also managed. You can grow your plants outdoors or in a greenhouse.
An irrigation system will allow you to water your crops automatically, while the composter will transform your animals' excrement into fertilizer. Both are available at the store. The developers have also added glass in the building materials in order to leave the players free to build their greenhouses.
The September update brings a bit more life to the map, with NPCs roaming the roads.
Full changelog
News:
- Added gardening system.
- 8 types of crops to grow: tomato, cabbage, watermelon, pumpkin, grape, strawberry, pepper, pineapple. You can grow your plants outdoors or in a greenhouse. Note: Standard roofs cannot grow crops.
- New resource: Glass (used to build greenhouses)
- Added simple NPC traffic on the map: NPC vehicles now move on roads and react to player behavior behind the wheel (by slowing down or stopping, for example). The roads have been reworked.
- Sprinkler (buy at the general store): place it on a crop plot or on the ground outside to make it water a small area as long as it is within range of the mill.
- Composter (to buy at the general store): by holding it, you can place animal excrement in it to turn it into fertilizer.
Changes / fixes:
- Roads have been reworked across the map. Note: In some places, especially near the General Store, the landscape has been changed. This could cause items placed on the road near the store to be lost when you load your game. Make sure you don't leave anything lying around before applying the update.
- Removed EOS registration window (pop-up window).
- Reduced chance of rain in the weather system.
- Fixed a bug that caused the game to lag for some players, as well as FPS drops in some areas of the ranch tent.
Next Update: Farm Work
In 2 months, the game will finally welcome the first agricultural works with the complete cultivation of wheat and the appearance of a tractor. Even if we remain far from a Farming Simulator, this demonstrates, and this is not the first time, that it is not only Giants Software that is capable of creating a growth/harvest system. From there to seeing Ranch Simulator as a real competitor, there is still room for improvement.
