Fan of the mythical Marble Madness, or to a lesser extent of Metroid, here is a game that should please you. Glyph puts you in the shell of a sort of mechanical beetle which has the particularity of moving in a ball in 3D levels. This is the studio Bolverk Games, specialist VR game, who is in charge of the title.
Glyph is a colorful and atmospheric 3D platformer game. And it is the Nintendo Switch version that passes through our hands today. The Steam PC version will not be released until August 9. Too bad, it's a bit late to occupy the children. Because yes, Glyph is a game for everyone. A bit of a puzzle at times, you have to think about it to progress level after level. You are helped by a second "scarab" which gives you clues and which will animate the main plot of the scenario, quite basic and on which we will not linger. In addition, not being French, the narration will not be understandable to all.
A chill universe
But it is more for the relaxed atmosphere that we remain posed on the portable console. The sets are relaxing, the music soft, the difficulty very gradual. The gameplay is simple: your character, in a ball, will gradually gain new skills: jump, double jump, charge, sprint, climb, bounce… All the keys on the Nintendo portable console will find use.
One endless day
The progression in the levels is thus done with the fingering. You will have to handle the mechanical beetle in a 3rd person view, and make sure to move from platform to platform. You will never have to fall from it, otherwise you will have to restart the level. There is no life, the error is fatal, but the trials are endless. Some passages open with keys, which you will of course have to find to go to the next level. Sometimes, at the end of a level, you will find yourself on a platform with several portals, which gives you the choice of the level. A well-regarded system to manage the difficulty and not leave the player stuck for too long on a level.
