What has made Farming Simulator so popular year after year is its ability to be “tweaked”. From the first opus, Giants Software has provided the community with tools to integrate almost everything.
Farming Simulator 17, which marks its 2 years of good and loyal service, is certainly one of the most modifying games of all time. It is almost impossible to keep track of the number of these changes, as they are scattered across different platforms.
One hub to control them all
Giants Software provides players with the famous " modhub“, Available on the official website. This section lists the mods officially checked by the development team, a guarantee of quality. We therefore find the best machines, trailers, harvesters, etc. but not only ! Because the modifications do not stop at the vehicles but also allow to bring new functionalities. One of the most popular being the “Season” mod which adds to the game the ability to manage the 4 seasons and all the gameplay that results from it.
Apart from vehicles, you can also find maps to vary your games a little more. However, be careful with multiplayer games, it is necessary that all players have identical mods to play them.
Farming Simulator 19 takes the principle of its big brother and integrates within it a "mod" section linking with the developers' hub. At the time of the test, it begins to fill up. And Giants is already announcing ten vehicles (including the Case IH 1455 XL) for the coming days.
Modding as an economic model?
Since the Giants Editor 8, the tool that allows you to create mods, was put online last week, modders around the world are converting their machine, map, or tool, in order to integrate them into this new version. Nevertheless, some are starting to express their "fed up" at having to recreate their mod every 2 years. Worse, some are discouraged by another phenomenon: theft. Because the mods thus created are free. You can download them AND modify them in turn, to improve them or change a texture for example. This is how dozens of download platforms have sprung up to offer mods whose origin we no longer know.
Faced with this, some modding teams, however very qualified, decided to throw in the towel. Hopefully, the overall quality of mods on Farming Simulator 19 won't suffer too much. It is time for Giants Software to look into the subject, in order to protect the works of creators. Maybe by only authorizing the official mod and encrypting the data? Ideas to think about, especially since mods are part of the game's sales pitch and modders are not remunerated.

I agree that modding is a key part, I am a modder myself. Too bad but giants struggles to update the GDN on time. The developments within farming simulator are notable for us. We must pay more attention to the script and not only that. For the maps it also changes but the result of our creations on this opus can only be superb. the graphics engine has taken a huge facelift with the physics and that is a very good thing. Thanks to us the game continues to grow but today with the numerous leaks and thefts of mods that we have suffered on the previous opus we work only for ourselves, for our personal pleasure. I think that on this opus only the modders having all the bases to move forward.
