A new Farming Simulator 22 blog post tells us more about the different textures applied to the soil depending on the job and the types of seedlings. Crushing, rolling after plowing, stubble cultivation, and preparation of a beautiful seedbed, are among the new cultivation stages of the game.
Giants Software seems to be catching up a little behind the technical itineraries of different cultures. Also, taking care of your land will have a direct impact on yields. You know, if you regularly browse our columns, the developers will call on the Parallax Occlusion Mapping to give relief to the ground. In combination, they will also use a new set of rather nice textures.
Mulching, a new step
The shredding of the residues, used as "mulching" (at least that is the term used by Giants), will be carried out with specific materials. It will improve the quality of the soil and consequently the yield. Giants Software also emphasizes the visual aspect. Requested by many players, it will be possible to mulch vines and olive trees, but this will apparently only be aesthetic.
Let's talk a bit about crushing corn canes. If it will be possible on FS 22, it seems nevertheless that the developers have missed a key function. In practice and in reality, the crushing of canes has many advantages. The first is the reduction in the risk of mycotoxins on the following crop (mycotoxins on maize as we could see in the presentation trailer, or DONATION on wheat.) Crushing also facilitates the next seeding since there is less debris on the plot.
At the moment, all of this is out of the question in Farming Simulator 22, and mulching is only used for mulching purposes (and therefore to increase yield). Also we learn that we can crush tree stumps or bushes (well, we are told about it). And that's good, since the Kuhn Pro-Longer GII has not yet been unveiled, although we have already told you about it.
Are we talking about collecting stones again?
Deactivatable in the game options, the stones will make life difficult for your tillage tools. The mechanics are quite realistic. The stones will rise depending on the working depth of the tool, whether it is a cultivator, a plow, or a subsoiler. The deeper you turn, the bigger the stones.
You can use a stone picker to clean up. The rocks are then sold for crushing. One way to get money easily. Leaving them in the field will damage your machines. Collection must therefore be carried out before sowing. Smaller stones can be "driven" into the ground using a roller ...
One scroll, two schools
Farming Simulator 22 welcomes a new category of machines: the rollers. In reality, their use is multiple. They are mainly used after plowing to crumble the earth. This seed bed will allow the seed to be in maximum contact with the soil and to have good germination. Rolling is also used after sowing, very often on cereals and rapeseed. In FS 22, rolling the earth will result in increased yields.
Enlarge your textures
Here is a table which recapitulates the different textures which will be used on the soils of Farming Simulator 22. It will be noted that direct sowing is finally taken into account, letting the stubble appear. The grass also has 2 stages depending on the state of mowing.
