Travel back in time, far from the latest Farming Simulator 19 John Deere models in the 80s, with billhooked tractors often accompanied by "liberated" engines, a hundred leagues from current emissions standards. A few years before the legendary Case IH 1455XL, a manufacturer led the hard life of companies racing with technology: Fiatagri.
In the mid-80s, a tractor turned the market upside down while a race for technology as we still know it today prevailed. The Fiatagri 180-90, since it is of him that one speaks, sported a line of the most classic, a very square and not very innovative design. It was under the hood that the difference was made, with a 6 cylinder 8L turbo delivering 180 HP. Today this iconic tractor of the brand with the spike arrives in Farming Simulator 17 thanks to the modder Peppe978, which delivers it with all its panoply: loader, short or long pre-filter, several wheel configurations ranging from small widths to twin wheels, and hitches.
Close your eyes !
I could talk to you at length about this mod, its strengths, its flaws. But immediately after purchase, the only thing you will remember is the sound of the engine! I do not know the real sound of this tractor, but at this time of manufacture, the mechanics "breathed" and this feeling is beautiful and very present and intoxicating.
Modeling is simple, but so is the real tractor. The designers of the 80s played more with the ruler than with the compass. Also the modder did not have a lot of work on this side, but everything is there, even the filters stamped with the Fiatagri logo. The interior is true to photos one can find of the actual model, although the textures lack detail, which is forgivable as it must be difficult to find the exact models of a tractor that is over 30 years old. Note that it is not compatible with the CI.
The monster is out
The engines "of the time" were monsters, it is often in these terms that we speak of them. And if today displaying 180 CV on a tractor may seem trivial, the Fiatagri 180-90 is a real show of force that the modder has been able to reproduce. In this presentation video from another century (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKlS2Ow9OxU), we see the machine pulling large-scale tools without flinching too much. In Farming Simulator it's the same, you can go without problem to tools dedicated to powers of 240 CV… it works!
