Far, far beyond our eastern border, MudRunner is popular. Many mods and maps of the Steam workshop are also from Poland, Ukraine, Russia. Today it is in Pripyat, a few kilometers from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster that we will deliver our logs.
A post-apocalyptic decor
Did you expect a flowery decor with beautiful colors? "Don't mess around, we're in MudRunner" I immediately want to tell you. What's more, in a setting that harbors a dark history. In short, no celebration. And the modder correctly reproduces the cold atmosphere that remains in the Ukrainian city of Pripyat. An area where water is omnipresent, as in reality (see on Google Maps), where the Pripiat valley (the river) constitutes the largest wetland in Europe. An ideal playground for MudRunner players.
In addition to the mud, a district of the city has been recreated. Many dilapidated buildings and a statue of Lenin prove that we are far from France. The map is cut in half by the river and only a bridge that can be used in one direction allows you to quickly travel from one half to the other, otherwise you have to go through the bottom of the map.
Garage + vehicles + kiosk = Difficulty
The 4 are linked. At the start of the map, or rather before starting the game, immediately change the vehicle and opt for a machine capable of pulling a simple trailer (such as the B-66 or the B-131). The reason ? The only garage present on the map to recall your vehicles is locked and the 4 points necessary for unlocking are scattered around the 4 corners in the form of a "repair trolley". Each one making 1 point of garage, you will have to bring them all to have your active recovery location.
Then you will have plenty of time to deliver the 8 points to the 5 sawmills. There isn't much of a difficulty, but the back and forth across the map will quickly get on your nerves. Especially since only one log kiosk is available and the roads to access it are not very numerous. A game can then be counted in ten hours ... whether you are a novice or experienced player.
