FOREVR POOL
ForeVR Pool offers you the possibility to play billiards from home, with really classy billiard halls. And the best part is that you don't need a table to play!
You can challenge your friends to a game of pool online, and if you want to improve, you can take on the 12 bots available. ForeVR Pool offers you several game modes, including quick play or the option to join a private multiplayer party. If you're playing with a friend locally, you can share your headset in turn-based mode.
The game offers the possibility of betting on your games against other players, to raise the level of the challenge a little.
With 50 personalized queues and 5 immersive halls, in a musical atmosphere based on youtube playlists, ForeVR Pool offers a unique gaming experience. For beginners, you can use shooting aid target lines, just to have fun from the first game.
Note that a 2 versus 2 multiplayer mode will soon be available!
The game runs natively on the Oculus Quest 2 and is sold on the store for €19,99.
PAPAYA BANG BANG VR
Papaye Bang Bang VR is a first-person shooter with… slingshots equipped with rocks AND special ammunition. The game is played in versus mode. You can play solo with bots or with friends to compete against other players online. The crazy atmosphere is very colorful with Mexican music that sets the pace.
The gameplay is original, the teams face each other and the players can slide on sorts of rails to move and hide. The decor is interactive, and the weapons vary depending on the character chosen.
We were able to play 2 against 2 and we had a really good laugh. The grip is immediate, the sleeves are short and follow one another at a good pace. We quickly level up, we unlock characters with new ammunition. The concept is really simple and effective.
CRISIS BRIGADE 2: RELOADED
“The city is in danger and the streets are overrun. You have been selected from among the chosen few of the elite to carry out high risk missions and save the city. You are allowed to take down the enemy by any means possible. »
I think you will have understood it, Crisis Brigade 2: Reloaded is a pure and hard action game. Like Time Crisis and Virtua Cop from the good old days, you'll have to hide, aim and shoot. The shootouts are intense, the weapons are powerful, the levels are quite challenging, and the enemies are fierce if not smart. It really feels like the arcade machines of the 90s, but with the immersion that virtual reality can offer.
The game also features a cooperative multiplayer mode so you can play with your friends and take on the enemies together. You will be able to face several realistic scenarios and choose from 4 difficulty levels.
Personally, I found the game fun but the AI is a bit strawberry and spoils the fun. We spend more time bugging than developing a strategy to overcome the levels.
The game runs natively on the Oculus Quest 2 and is sold on the store for €14,99.
SILHOUETTE
Put down your controllers because here is a truly original game. And it's one of the first to use hand recognition on the Oculus Quest 2. And besides, it's only playable that way. In Silhouette, you will have to manipulate shadows and light to advance small characters from one end of the puzzles to the other.
Despite its originality, the game is a real puzzle in which you are dropped with minimal help. Technically, if the detection of hands is a marvel on the Quest 2, our little character has the unfortunate tendency not to take into account the collision of the shadow projected on the screen. This makes certain levels rather stressful. I keep this game in my library just to see it evolve because it is truly unique.
Silhouette runs natively on the Quest 2. It is available at the low price of €9,99.
DROP DEAD: THE CABIN
Welcome to Drop Dead: The Cabin, a survival game against the undead. In this intense and demanding game, you will come face to face with relentless waves of zombies who have escaped from an evil lab experiment. Your mission is simple: find resources, fortify defenses and survive as long as possible.
In The Cabin, you can play solo or co-op with a friend. To last the longest, you will have to accomplish objectives to progress and improve the abilities of your character and your weapons. To kill the zombie, it's your choice, melee attack or firearms. Be aware that anything you pick up can be used as a weapon, whether it's a baseball bat or an old pan.
Personally I found the game interesting and quite well done for a title that runs natively on the Quest. Unfortunately it is also very stressful and the very fast action can quickly make you dizzy. You will be notified.
On the price side, we are at the top of the basket with €24,99.
AFTERLIFE VR
Let's stay in the scary games, with Afterlife in VR version. Was it really necessary to make a virtual reality version? The basic version already made me jump to the ceiling!
Afterlife VR is therefore an immersive first-person horror game that runs on PC Steam using the Oculus Link for my part.
You play as Adam Bernhard, a young rookie policeman looking for his sister Allison who has been sent to a Black Rose mental institution that hides many secrets. The game is dark and the first minutes in the hospital are blood-curdling. We could have called this game "Flashlight Simulator" because you will spend most of your time looking for batteries in order to have a semblance of lighting and not to worry too much about it.
I'm not going to lie to you, I dropped the game after an hour, not that patients are scary, but just that I was not in a period where I wanted to worry.
In any case, the plot is nice, and even if the game is in English, the French subtitles do the job well and allow you to understand the story without difficulty.
The game is available on Steam for the low price of €13,99.
AQUARIST VR
And while we're on the low end, let's take a look at Aquarist VR, from developer FreeMind. In this game, you will have to create and manage your own aquarium, but also an aquarium shop. It's a posed game that first exists in a non-VR version. Still in the state of Erlay Access, Aquarist VR is not the easiest to learn. We feel that the game was not designed primarily for virtual reality and object manipulation is not always obvious. Nevertheless, the realization is nice and the possibilities of creation quite wide. To be reserved, however, for fans of the genre. You can download a demo on Steam.
The full version will cost you 9,75€.
House Builder VR
In the same genre and by the same developers, House Builder is also a game that has just been ported to a VR version. The principle remains identical to the first version of the game, namely to travel the world to discover the different types of housing. VR is more at home here than in Aquarist VR, and manipulation of the environment is quite simple. Be careful however, plan a space of at least 3mx3m clear to take full advantage of the title.
Personally, during the test, I very often happened to throw building materials to go faster. Luckily there was nothing in front of me in the real world.
Kayak VR: Mirage
I save you the best for the end with 2 really crazy titles with a masterful realization. We start with Kayak VR Mirage, a title released in the middle of last year and which returns to the front of the stage with the release of the PSVR2. And that's also why it's only now available on Univers Simu, the game has only been really stable since the last update at the end of February.
For many players, Kayak VR is the most realistic and immersive game offered in virtual reality to date. If it is still the Unreal Engine 4 which propels the game, it has nothing to envy to the most beautiful technological demos which were presented for version 5.
So what to do in Kayak VR Mirage. Well, paddle let's see. Several game modes are available to you, whether you choose to play sports or not. Personally, and in the face of such beauty, and even if you can opt for choppy weather, I much prefer the free mode in sunny weather, which allows you to paddle quietly near the ice floe at the North Pole, in the jungle in Costa Rica or on the Norwegian coast, and fully enjoy a moment of relaxation watching the fish swim in translucent water.
The game is still in development. It should accommodate a real-time multiplayer mode to walk around, or compete with your friends.
Count €22,99 for the PC Steam version, and €23,99 for the PlayStation version.
Painting VR
We end this selection with a creative painting experience of stunning realism.
With Painting VR, you can let your imagination run wild without having to clean up anything. Here you can learn the basics of color, painting, and composition before honing your skills by experimenting with the tools at your disposal.
Painting VR is a real simulation. Painting pros will be amazed by the title's ability to simulate color mixtures, canvas textures, the thicknesses of the different layers, and the possible techniques, whether this evening the multiple brushes, aerosols, or rollers.
For beginners, the game includes a web browser that allows you to view tutorials, for example, without having to leave your virtual environment.
On Steam PC, or directly natively on your Oculus Quest, Quest 2 or Quest Pro, you will have to pay € 19,99 to be able to paint endlessly.
