City builder Cities Skylines 2 is once again struggling with technical issues, causing frustration and discontent among players. This time, a major bug appeared following the removal of the Beach Properties DLC. Initially removed from sale with the aim of integrating it for free into the base game in order to improve its image, this action had unexpected consequences. Specific DLC items have been replaced with featureless gray blocks in player towns.
Reactions from players were strong, sharing screenshots showing entire neighborhoods transformed into dreary spaces devoid of life. Faced with this situation, Colossal Order acknowledged the problem and promised corrective measures. This includes refunds for buyers of the Beach Properties DLC as well as compensation for owners of the Ultimate Edition.
A patch is currently in development and should be available in the coming weeks. In the meantime, players are advised to be patient and avoid loading saves that contain areas affected by the bug. Some are also turning to community mods to diversify their gaming experience while waiting for an official solution.
Despite these inconveniences, the announcement of the console version of Cities Skylines 2 launching in October offers a glimmer of hope. This expansion to new platforms could attract a new audience and reignite interest in the game. However, the future remains uncertain until ongoing issues are resolved.
