Third podcast from Giants Software. After the presentation of Elany in the previous episode, the developers dive back into the few questions sent by the community. Those of Simulagri, sent via our Discord, have also found answers.
Giants to open an office in the United States?
“After Covid, there will be, even if physically the office is already there. For the moment, Elany, who as a reminder has just joined the Giants Software team for the US part, is telecommuting like many of us. "
Can you communicate the distribution of players between PC and consoles?
“It's hard to gauge, but there is a 50/50 balance between console players (PS and Xbox, excluding Nintendo Switch) and PC (also including Macs). " (Editor's note: from memory, I was told about a 70% consoles, 30% PC at a time not so long ago ...)
Why does my game keep crashing?
Editor's note: A totally useless question as it stands. Possible that Giants Software retained it to remind that there is indeed a tab " technical support On its website. If you have crash issues, see this article from univers-simu.com.
Giants will they recruit agricultural consultants to move towards more realism?
Good news ! It seems that many employees have an agricultural background or are even directly involved in agriculture. Giants Software also has extensive contact with the farming community, citing John Deere while working on the Precision Farming project.
Why doesn't the game have split screen multiplayer?
It would seem that this is above all a technical limitation, especially consoles that would not support the demand in terms of power. But, Lars, who answers the question, doesn't seem supportive either: "The days of the split screen are over, with the exception of games like Mario Kart, specifically designed for this game mode". This is of course only his opinion ...
Can modders be part of the partner program?
It's time to talk about the program Partners. The Giants Software office receives “tons” of requests per day… and rejects 99% of them. Because the Partner program is above all reserved for content creators (media, Youtubers, streamers, etc.). It is not made for modders who already have a paid partnership via the modhub.
How do you plan to reconcile two populations: the one that requires more realism and the one that wants to stay in the casual / arcade?
A word : " MODS". There are already a few in-game options to switch the difficulty towards more realism or more ease. But overall, it is the mods that make it possible to reconcile the 2 populations. “Farming Simulator is a game after all, and everyone is free to add / modify their part as they wish (plow, lime, etc.). Giants seek to make the game easy to play. " But the developer still recalls that for players who do not know agriculture, launching a first game is already very complicated. “A lot of kids play with their parents, and here the seasons mod and maize plus aren't really helpful. "
Would it be possible to add the special editions of tractors (Blue power from New Holland, Black Beauty from Fendt,…)?
“We are already doing it, for a lot of tractors (Cow edition for Valtra, Challenger Field Python, etc.), but we cannot do it all the editions in the world. In fact the answer is simple: it all depends on the licenses. The manufacturers give their agreement on a particular model, most often representative models of the market. Special editions are not requested by hardware manufacturers. "
