Here's some interesting news on the Farming Simulator 22 blog. The upcoming Platinum expansion, and its forest-oriented Silverrun Forest map, won't be empty for long. You will indeed have the possibility of reforesting it with new types of trees, and new equipment.

New tree species
More than 20 trees have already been planted on the new Silverrun Forest map of the Platinum DLC. Some of them are new to the game: Giants Software is adding more conifers to the existing tree species in Farming Simulator 000. configuration for new tree types.
- Lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta) is also very common in western North America, especially near ocean shores. This evergreen conifer is often used in rural areas for log cabins, posts, fences, timber and firewood. In some parts of the world, it is also popular for reforestation purposes.
- Ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa) is a rather tall pine native to the mountainous regions of western North America. It is the most widespread species of pine in North America. It is used for building materials and firewood.
- Sequoias (Sequoioideae), also known as "redwoods", are conifers of a family of trees that includes the largest and tallest on our planet. They are endangered and have been cultivated beyond their original habitats. They are not meant to be felled but are an excellent choice for reforestation.
reforestation tools
There are several machines to use for planting and harvesting trees. More than 40 new vehicles and tools are included in the Platinum expansion – with John Deere, Komatsu, Pfanzelt, Koller, Schwarzmüller, IMPEX and other brands.
The Volvo Group brings with it machines for planting and harvesting: the Volvo EC250DL and its big brother, the Volvo EC380DL. Alongside many other machines, of course.
If you like planting trees, you will also like the Risutec SKB-240, which allows you to plant no less than 240 saplings in one go in combination with the Volvo machines mentioned above.
And for the harvest
Cutting down trees will be one of the main activities in Silverrun Forest, and the material brought by the Platinum DLC does not leave you empty-handed. Several machines and several heads for felling and transporting logs are planned. Here are some examples of combinations with the Volvo EC3800DL:
To make harvester head control a bit more nimble, you can now tilt your harvester head to not only cut trees, but also grab them from the ground.
Autograbbing a tree will also be easier with the Platinum DLC. A yellow ring appears around the nearby tree stump, so you always know which tree you're aiming for in the dense woods of Silverrun Forest. As soon as it turns green, the harvester is ready for action.
If you want to grab more than one tree, you can. With John Deere Feller Buncher 843L-II harvester + FD55 disc saw harvester head.
In short, the closer the Platinum DLC approaches, the more we can't wait to take ourselves for Charles Ingalls and go cut wood.
