MasterBrain Bytes looks back on the latest announcements unveiled last week on the different phases of development until the final version.
Planning
Unsurprisingly, we stay on "polishing" until the end, there are no more new features to incorporate. "We devote our time to optimizing existing content and fixing bugs" Update 0.9 is expected before Christmas. New content and features will be added to the game after v1.0. The exact release date of v1.0 will probably be announced in early 2020.
Multiplayer mode
It was a surprise, we learned last week: the multiplayer mode is no longer relevant for the final version…. but will arrive as an update a little later. Phew! “We're going to be devoting a lot of our time to worker AI first. We can't comment on how long it will take to develop multiplayer at this time, but this feature is high on our priority list. "
PlayStation 4 in priority
Porting to consoles is one of the pillars of development. It was announced at the start of development, then fell, like multiplayer, into oblivion. Here it is back, and it's the Sony console that will be the first to serve. “We plan to port to Playstation 4 as the first console version after the release of version 1.0. But the PC remains the basic platform. "
Performance
The game requires a good hardware configuration to display a high level of detail. For developers, this is a problem and there are still a lot of improvements to be made in terms of optimization. “In the phase preceding the release of version 1.0, the focus will be mainly on areas such as: the total number of objects (trees and vegetation in particular), shadow optimization, multi-threading. After v1.0, we plan to fully integrate the latest version (v3.0) of the Tombstone engine, which will not only offer a lot of optimizations, but also bring some graphical improvements. "
Scenario and tutorials
The general storyline of the game will be revised. The tutorials will be separated and added as individual missions (as was the case for a short time in the tech demo). Today, on the “Albergtal” map, most of the scenarios and tutorials are present.
Cattle and Crops will speak our language well
The entire game will be translated into other languages by v1.0: French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish. “We are also working on the technical implementation for Chinese and Japanese. " MasterBrain Bytes teaches us.
To each his own difficulty
Without knowing what the variables will be for adjusting the difficulty, we learn that there will be 3 levels in the final version: Easy, Medium, and Hard. This will undoubtedly be initially the content of the bank account at the start of the game, and perhaps a better resale of agricultural products (?). But these are only guesses… The sequel before Christmas!
